Wisdom. Something that people strive for. Something people envision as an old man with all of the knowledge and answers gained by experiences. Something adults say we teenagers lack.
I think wisdom can be a lot of things to a lot of different people. But it can be a tricky thing to have and keep.
I wanted to focus on a certain definition of wisdom that says, “the soundness of an action or decision with regard to the application of experience, knowledge, and good judgment."
Along with that, I think a lot of times teenage girls feel like they aren’t wise because of the way society thinks and labels us.
For me personally, sometimes I feel like there is no wise choice in certain situations because all of my options seem horrible. And while that is a valid feeling, we don’t have to feel the pressure of trying to be wise on our own.
Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires."
When we turn to God for wisdom, He leads us to those wise thoughts and decisions.
This verse makes me envision a soldier with an indestructible weapon, and, even if she fights alone, she is protected and guided. We can be like this soldier. When we fight our battles, we have an indestructible weapon and that is God and His word.
I think oftentimes as humans, we get so caught up in our everyday lives and problems that we forget about God and how much He can help us when we turn to Him. And it’s in those difficult and pressuring situations that I feel like I forget Him most.
What I want to encourage people to know is that we can all be wise when we turn to God and ask for guidance and knowledge. I feel like a good rule is that when you’re in doubt, turn to God. Pray. Talk to someone that you trust and that knows and loves God.
All of us God-loving, seeking, and breathing girls are here for each other and to support each other. While wisdom is a tough concept, I think we can all achieve it with the help of each other and God.
